• There was a slightly jarring moment when a fan asked the panel if there would ever be a female Doctor, and Steven pointed out it would be entirely possible, but then asked for a show of hands who would like to see it happen. This got about 50% of the audience raising their hands, but he then asked how many people would switch off the show if there was a female doctor, and 20-30% of fans put a hand up, to a certain amount of gasping from everyone else.

Jesus, Whovians. I am not pleased.

Aaaaaaaaand here is the REAL reason why there’s never been a female Doctor, probably never will be, and why I’m not too inclined to watch this show

What a disappointing response. BUT. There WAS some positive reaction guys. Guys? Let us not discredit those and us who DO WANT a female Doctor. Hell, a writer of the show admitted it to being possible. Don’t get down just yet.

Plus… to that 20-30%. Come on. Come on. The Doctor is the Doctor. No matter what sex/gender he regenerates into. Why is this such a problem? The Doctor is a paradox. Constant yet ever-changing. He turns into a different person often enough, but there are things about him that remain the same. So pray my good people, why would the Doctor being a female be a huge issue? Not to say you’re being inherently or accidentally sexist, but…

So, yes. I’m all for a female Doctor. Even better, a ginger female Doctor. =)
